Alcademy is a rogue-like deck builder about geometric combination and maximization used to heal, block, or attack during consecutive duels against opponents of increasing difficulty.

Basic Gameplay

Drag and drop essence onto the hexagonal grid to match the patterns displayed across your scroll. The effects (damage, block, and healing) displayed under each pattern will be applied for each match in the grid, and the cumulative total value of the matches will be displayed above the player (on the left). Click the Transmute button to cast your transmutation and apply the effects. You may play as many transmutations as you'd like during your turn.

When you are done transmuting, you may end your turn by pressing the End Turn button. When you end your turn, the enemy will take its turn by applying the effect at the front of their queue, and your next turn will begin after drawing 3 new essence from your deck.

Essence

You will start every game with 5 red, 5 yellow, and 5 blue essence in your deck. At the start of each duel, your deck will be shuffled and 5 essence will be drawn. Essence played in transmutations will insert a discard pile. When the essence deck is exhausted, the discarded essence will be shuffled back into the deck to be drawn again.

When defeating an enemy, you may be prompted to select new essence, which can come in a variety of versions:

Basic

Basic essence are the same as the 15 you start with.  Select them if you have no other choice, or want to tailor your color ratio to specific transmutations.

Hybrid

Hybrid Essence combines 2 or more essence types and simultaneously counts as all of its combined essence types when matching transmutation patterns.

Double

For each Double Essence in a transmutation, an extra match for said transmutation is counted. Use these to multiply the matches of your strongest transmutations.

Double-Hybrid

These work as you'd expect.

Transmutations

Transmutations consist of essence patterns that, when matched on the Hex Grid, provide some amount of damage, healing, and/or block. You can view your known transmutations in the scroll at the bottom of the screen.

Essence need not be limited to use in a single transmutation. An effective use of transmutations is to utilize overlaps in their patterns to match many transmutations with limited essence. When defeating an enemy, you may be prompted to select new transmutations. Try to choose transmutations that have significant overlap with your current transmutations to maximize your potential.
